Hey US!

I'm sending out the Bible Study announcement for this week. As most of you
are aware, Covenant is coming to the conclusion of a 2-year intensive
discernment process concerning our affiliation with the PCUSA denomination.
This coming Sunday, May 18th, there will be a town hall meeting to share the
recommendation of the church session with the congregation. That meeting
will begin at 7:00 p.m. in the sanctuary. Because this is important for all
participants in the body to attend, we will be slightly altering our plans
for Sunday evening. Instead of gathering at 7:30 in GP3, we will join with
the Covenant family in the sanctuary at 7:00 p.m. Following the town hall
meeting, we will get together and I will field questions from the group as
to what the next steps will be, and how we can best be praying for this
process. Even if you are not a regular attendee of Covenant, I still
encourage you to check out the meeting, and to see how a process such as
this can be conducted in a God-honoring fashion. If you have specific
questions ahead of Sunday evening, please do not hesitate to contact me. I
do implore all of you to be praying for the church during this time, and
have included a prayer list from pastor Henderson. We'll be back to the
regular Bible Study time on Sunday, May 25th, when we'll be discussing
spiritual gifts. Neil will have more for you as we get closer to time on
that topic.

In His grip,
Adam

*"As we approach this vote, I would like to invite us together to our knees
before God. Among many others things that have been born of this time of
seeking and waiting, God has used our discernment process to teach us how to
pray. *

*Here are some things for which I'd ask that we be praying together:*

*1. That we would be diligent to seek the will of God, inviting Him to
continue to lead us at every step. Matthew 7.7-8, Galatians 5.25*

*2. That we would faithfully discern God's call for this congregation from
amid the competing voices and concerns. James 1.5, Galatians 5.25*

*3. That our hearts would be yielded, and that, free of fear, we would be
courageous to act on what we have discerned. II Timothy 1.7, James 1.6-8*

*4. That God would grant us joy and peace. Colossians 3.15, Galatians
5.22-23"*
